Bathtub confessional

I'd always wondered when the time would come. Then one night while Georgia soaked in the tub and I sat nearby, it came.

Mommy, were you alive in 1982?
Yes, I was.
Were you married?
Not to your Dad.
Were you married to someone else before Daddy?
Yes, I was.

Cool.

Trust accidents and coincidences; trust imperfection and the unforeseen.

Kids are amazing. They can ask questions that might be 'impolite' or kind of awkward, and then when it's answered, carry on with a different topic. An adult would then have asked to who, what was it like, why'd you get divorced... I can't wait until Sully asks thinking questions.

1982? 1982? LOL. Wow, what child even thinks about dates like that? amazing.

I'd have to agree with Georgia.
Cool just about sums it up.

Shannon, not so amazing, really, when they are in 1st grade and learning numerals in the thousands and that years are numbers. Obviously 1982 doesn't mean to her ALL the things it means to me! But she amazes me anyway.

And all the shame and stigma she instantly blew away like a soap bubble! All the doubt and worry. That was a good scrubbing all right.

I wonder where she got 1982? That is terribly cute though. At least now she knows! :)

I'm so grateful to be able to absorb your optimism -- your take on these little moments. It's helpful. What a wonderful child you have!
