Asking for it

It's amazing what happens when you ask.

GG's Birthday List:

Acoustic guitar
Dachsund puppy
New smaller DVD player
Ears pierced
World peace
Room re-arranged
Bunk bed with sofa
Pink room
Wii

And what doesn't.

What are you asking for right now?

One of my greatest joys as a parent is discovering what my child desires (and doesn't.) It is never more apparent than when the birthdays roll around.

And speaking of dogs, how's Molly?

today i'm asking for inner air conditioning to cool my sweaty, overworked soul.

Kristin,
Molly has an intermittent and worrisome limp. Could be arthritis, stiffness, numbness, normal, abnormal, who knows? It doesn't worry her, just me. And when I see that no matter what the circumstance, I'm the source of the worry, it cools me off Holly, the only kind of air conditioning that gets the job done in these temperatures.

I love how she smoothly puts World Peace in the middle of such a list. And how have you managed to NOT have a pink room by now? Everything's pink at our house. I dream in pink, in fact.

Speaking of world peace; some peace came our way yesterday in an old American Girl box filled with some great reading material. That's all we're doing now. In the house, in the yard, at the park even this morning. Devouring at least five in a sitting. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I'm asking for two weeks of meals I don't have to cook or clean up after, laundry that someone else does, and abolutely nothing to do but read and journal during those same two weeks. And world peace.

*to feel more energized
*to accept feeling exhausted
*to have another child (which I realize contradicts the first two wants)
*a back yard
*a massage

Hear, hear. Or is it here, here?

Ah yes, "and what doesn't." Love that thought, too.

My short list:
snuggles
ears pierced again
world peace
piano or keyboard

That is the best list EVER!!!

My list is not so short:
*A nice rainstorm (with lightening that doesn't start a fire)
*A pedicure
*Time to read
*Time to write
*A day with no whining
*A clean house - the whole house, each and every room clean at exactly the same moment
*A pizza oven (outdoors - fancy schmancy)
*Raised vegetable beds
*Oh yes, and world peace

For my birthday, which was two days ago, I got 1/2 of the upstairs of the house cleaned by my children with a side of moaning, groaning and whining. Some is better than none. :o)

peace, love, caring, health, food to eat. Sharing with others. And once in a while, a clean house.

Aside from world peace, always at the top, I want solitude. Total solitude, where I can just be alone with myself and thoughts. This never happens for me. I would treasure it, even if it was a day.
Happy 4th of July.
